I turned pro in 1990. As a new pro, you go through an initiation phase as the established pros don't like to get beaten by a "rookie." Well, these guys would push me around so to speak and I would not give an inch. I would fight back in defense of their "attacks" and was hot headed. Shortly thereafter a bunch of pros were giving nicknames to fellow pros in the class. Well, I got nicknamed "The Jackal" as a jackal is a wild mean relentless dog in the wolf family. At the time, I didn't even know what a jackal was. The name just stuck...

I once inquired about acquiring a jackal. No luck as it is a wild breed that can't be domesticated.
